Renaming Workspace, Menu Item, Form, Action and Field, Part 2

In Part 1 of this series to “dress up” Acumatica, we changed the title of the Estimating module in the workspace and its menu items. When we examined the Profile List, we saw that the changes made do not reach the form level (Figure 1). In part 2 we will use Customization to dress up the form.

Figure 1. Title of the profile list was changed to Appraisals but not the ID on the form

I will begin with a disclaimer that modifying an entity and its elements through Customization are more sophisticated and should only be performed by users with knowledge and access rights.

Let us look at the “Appraisal” form and highlight the 3 changes I want to make (Figure 2). It is important to first identify the screen ID of the form (AM.30.30.00) by selecting Tools > Screen ID

Figure 2. Rename Estimate to Appraisal on the form

The first change is the screen title of the form. In the workspace, go to Customization > Profiles > Site Map. I search for screen ID AM.30.30.00 and replace the title with “Appraisal” (Figure 3).

Next, I open the form and select Customization > Edit Project… In the Select Customization Project dialog window, I select “New” to put other changes into a new project called AdjustUI (Figure 4). Click “OK” twice to create the new project.

Figure 4. Add a new customization project

In the Customization Project Editor that opens in a new window, I add a new row, enter screen ID AM.30.30.00 and save the entry. This adds “AM303000” under SCREENS in the navigation pane (Figure 5).

Next, I expand the list of options for AM303000 and select Fields in order to rename fields on the form. I click “+” to open the Add Field dialog window, select Documents () as the Container and enter “Estimate” as the Display Name to filter by keyword. I match the first 2 entries to the fields I picked out in Figure 2, check their selection boxes and click Add & Close (Figure 6).

Figure 6. Select and add fields for update

From the Screen Editor, I replace “Estimate” with “Appraisal” in their display names and save the changes (Figure 7).

To make these changes official, I publish the current project and wait for the website to be updated.
